Joshua graduated with his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) Degree with a major in Entrepreneurship from the University of Manitoba's Asper School of Business in December of 2016.
During his years as an undergraduate, Joshua represented the Asper School of Business at both national & provincial business plan competitions. He and his team finished first place with their business plan for MedicHero; an app based company for paramedics. Through this experience and his role as Vice President of Marketing with the Manitoba Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, Joshua learnt how to work well in a team environment, gained efficient time management skills, and recognized first hand how much effort and work is required to make something successful.
As a highly motivated and driven individual with a strong work ethic and passion for business, Joshua consistently seeks new and exciting opportunities in order to expand his knowledge, experience and network. He loves to explore new business ideas and enjoys working with other entrepreneurs to help bring their ideas to life.
Joshua began his pursuit of entrepreneurship in 2012 when he launched his own digital marketing consulting practice. As a trusted advisor, he provided his clients with strategies to grow and maintain an effective online presence through the use of multiple digital platforms. Joshua’s work evolved into working with business owners and early stage entrepreneurs in building & reviewing business plans, professional presentations, helping launch businesses, building marketing strategies, feasibility studies, capital structuring, capital raising and strategic growth, now under the Audax Ventures brand.
Joshua combined his passion for golf with entrepreneurship and became the CEO and Co-Owner of Longball Athletics: a Canadian golf and lifestyle apparel company. Joshua transitioned to this role after a 3 year term as the Manitoba representative for the company. Joshua's responsibilities include creating, implementing and managing all of the day to day operations and strategic growth of the company such as managing the sales team, the companies marketing efforts (both digital and print), new product design, development & testing, manufacturing and production supply chain control, accounting and finance tasks, community impact, event creation, and overall organizational growth.
In the spring of 2019, Joshua embraced a new endeavour of strategy and business development, learning, and leadership when he leased a seasonal restaurant at the Clear Lake Golf Course in Riding Mountain National Park. Nine Restaurant & Lounge, a casual lunch and dinner restaurant was born in spring 2019. Joshua enjoys the opportunity to develop relationships with the local community as well as seasonal and vacation visitors to the area.
Most recently, Joshua began an exciting position as the Venture Coach at the Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba. As Venture Coach, Joshua is mentoring students pursuing their own ideas for a venture by supporting their idea vetting, feasibility studies, market research, business plan development, strategic growth, financial modelling, capital raising, capital structuring, and cash flow projections.
Joshua is actively involved in his community and recognizes the need to give back whenever possible. He is a board member of the Young Associates of the Asper School of Business, a board member of the St. Pauls High School Alumni Association, and a speaker to various groups of high school and MBA students. He is the founder of the Manitoba Longball Open; a charity golf tournament held at the Clear Lake Golf Course to raise money and awareness for KidSport Manitoba.
When the opportunity arises for some down time, Joshua will most likely be found travelling, on the golf course or at his family cottage enjoying the outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
